Sunday Cruise Through Southern
Illinois Hosted by:
The Piston Pusher's
October 14, 2007
Not sure where to begin this journey.  I started in Fenton, MO around  8:00 am for
my trip to Columbia, IL to meet up with some friends and then our trip to O'Fallon, IL
to meet the Piston Pusher's at Denny's Restaurant.. This is a fun group of approx. 30
hot rods and classic's ready to cruise.   The amazing thing is that they try to do one
cruise a month when possible.. Now these cruises are not just around the block. Here,
let me try to tell you where we went.. This should be fairly un-accurate being I'm from
Missouri.. It all started in O'Fallon, IL and then to Shiloh, Smithton, Hecker, Red
Bud, Ruma, made an emergency (roadside fuel stop) outside Evansville, Ellis Grove,
Chester, and ended up in Perryville, MO.  We stopped at Charley's Diner for lunch.. If
you ever get through Perryville, be sure and stop for their mushroom cheese burger..
The Piston Pusher's handed out tickets to everyone who had car's for the free lunch
drawing...The lucky guy was Jerry Timberman.. After lunch, it seemed like the group
went their own ways to go back home due to being from different area's.. Our little
group wound up in Maeystown, IL for their annual October Fest.. Just a good ole
outting was had by all..I wanted to buy some of the huge mums by a local grower but
had no way of getting them home.. If you are in need of antiques, this was the place to
be.. And then there is Eschy's Bar & Restaurant, where we cooled off with a ice cold
refreshments.  After we left Maystown, we headed back to Valmeyer, IL where we
AGAIN, filled up with fuel at Mike's and  had an ice cream for the road home.. Total
miles driven on this beautiful Sunday, 200 miles..
Special Note:  The Piston Pusher's were established in
1955 serving Illinois & Missouri.  Club's membership is
32 member's.  Junior Mitchell, President
