This October "Car of the Month" is another South County
beauty.. Jim & Stephanie purchased this car off the internet in
February of 2004, from Boston, Mass.   It was a race type car
with a lot of work to be done..After the car was delivered to
them, the work started.. The car had no engine and Jim wanted a
little muscle under the hood.. How do you get muscle?  You build
a 496 ci engine and that is what they did..Then the Weind 871
supercharger with dual chromed 850 Demon carbs, forged TRW
8: 3-1 pistons, Lunate hydraulic roller cam, Eagle h-beam rods,
forged 4340 Eagle crank.  The machine work was done by Phase
II. (Yeah, it's a "toad motor") A set of custom coated headers
were added by R&R Chassis..  That took care of the engine..now
what do we do??  Well, lets strip the body from the doors
forward.. I actually saw some old pictures of this car when it
was delivered and I have to agree with Stephanie.  "Jim, have you
lost your mind"??  Jim had this vision that with the  new body,
paint, interior, tires, wheels, transmission, axles, bumpers, and
on and on, this car would be beautiful.. After most of the sheet
metal was replaced, then came the mechanic's of the car.  The
back half of the car was done by Andy McCoy.  Andy also tubbed
the car so the 31x18.50x15 Hoosier Quick Time tires would fit. A
chrome moly tube chassis 4 link w/Strange coil overs in the rear,
a 9" Ford fabricated housing by McCoy, Danny Mueller 9" posi,
4:11 gears and Strange s/s axles. In the front, they added a Global
West tubular, upper/lower control arms with a QA-1 coil overs.
Now we add a 400 turbo transmission with a trans brake and a
Hughes 8" convertor. The mechanical end of this car was
completed and now we need the finishing touches..Custom
interior was added and there was
NO decision as to who is going
to do the body and paint work.. It WILL be done by the master's
at John's Auto Body in Arnold, Missouri.. They decided to paint
the car a dark titanium with a taste of metal flake.. I wish these
pictures would show the true beauty of this paint and body
work..  Better yet, at the next car show, stop by and say "Hi" to
Jim and Stephanie, and look for yourself.  They just returned
from their first car show and I'm sure you can guess what place
this beauty placed..Yep, FIRST PLACE !!
Congratulations Jim & Stephanie..
On a job well done !!
