| Here it is, Sunday, January 06, 2008..Beautiful day which would include a record breaking high temperature of 73 degree's since 1908..The phone rings and it’s my good ole buddy Joe ..”Hey there, wanta go cruisin’?.. How could you say no to an offer like that.. A few more phone calls and we have a small group of Joe & Toni, (that’s Toni with an “I”), Rick and our friend JR, (JR’s t-bucket is not only a ford but has a ford engine that could not make it out of the garage for some strange reason, Carl, and myself.. The original plan was to meet at the commuter lot at I-270 and Highway 30..leave from there and go have lunch..After the 1st stop, we realized that this weather was too nice not to make a “Polar Bear” cruise and put some miles on these rods.. We left and headed for “Fast Eddy’s”..What a beautiful ride.. We got there but we were not the only one’s that had thought that Fast Eddy’s would be a great spot for lunch.. I could not tell you how many motorcycles and people were there. The food line would have taken us an hour to order..We then decided to head for Grafton for lunch along the river..Again, the cruise along the river road was beautiful. People honking..waving..and showing us their “thumbs up” as they passed by.. We finally stopped at a little tavern and had a great lunch and met a bunch of wonderful people.. Then the decision was to go back the way we came or cross on the ferry’s.. Everyone wanted to do the ferry, so off we went.. I keep saying how beautiful it was..NO one brought a camera, so the few pictures you see will be from my cell phone.. The beauty will not be displayed.. We get to the Brussels ferry and the line was small..mostly bikes and convertibles.. Across the river we go and then headed for the Golden Eagle ferry..These two ferry’s look alike, so I might have them switched.. After crossing the second body of water, we traveled through St. Charles heading for I-370.. down 370 to I-270 and then south to home.. We dropped Joe and Toni off at I-270 & I-44 and then I was dropped off at I-270 & Highway 30.. Carl continued traveling with Rick and JR to I-270 and I-55, which left Rick & JR all by themselves to head for Valmeyer, Illinois.. All I can say is…WHAT A DAY..Not too sure how many miles..don’t want to say what our gasoline bill was... but no money can tell you what it was to CRUISE with beautiful weather and good friends..and then let’s not forget… It’s January 6, 2008 |
