Hazelwood Baptist Church's
11th Annual Car Show
June 19th, 2010
Another hot day at the Hazelwood Baptist Church's Car Show.  I've been to a lot of car shows but
this one takes the title of a "Class Act" !!  The group of organizers really have it together.  This year,
another 300 + cars, trucks, motorcycles and special  interests were in attendance.  This church
welcomes all car owners to enter with NO entry fee plus offers you lunch, drinks, and dinner after
the show is over at no cost.  Parking was no problem for spectators and even had shuttles for
those who parked in nearby school lots.  Volunteers were walking around handing out free soda
and water to those who needed to quench their  thurst.  There was two stages of music offered at
all times.  One stage was in the backside of the church and the main stage was in the front.  All the
bands were excellent and provided a variety of music.  In fact, on the Rock Stage, I saw ELVIS
singing some of his most popular recordings.  Their was 50's and 60's rock, Christian rock, Classic
Country, Gospel, Bluegrass and contemporary music during the whole show.
The American Red Cross was also there for a blood drive which they were kept busy all day until
2:00 pm.  You could see the smoke from the food court, tents to provide shade and many handouts
to the public from Auto Zone and Ferguson Roofing.
As I mentioned earlier, at 5:30 pm was the car show owner's dinner and award ceremony that
earned the votes from the general public.  I am not able to report more on the dinner/awards, due
to a storm was heading our way with possible hail reported by our local forecasters.  With an open
car, I decided it was time to leave this GREAT car show and head for home.  A round of applauses
to all the workers, volunteers, Hazelwood Baptist Church, Pastor Jim and Mr. Dan Hering who
organized this event.
