| James Fletcher's 1923 Ford "T" Bucket Rock Springs, Wyoming (Click on pictures to enlarge) |
This beautiful 1923 Ford "T" Bucket was built by Jim in his garage over the last 10 years. Now that Jim has retired, he just went through it for the 2nd time and look at the product he has created. He still feels it is not completely finished and classifies it as "work in progress". I know that most car enthusiast feel there is always more work to be done on their rides. A little information about the car. It has a Chevrolet stroked 383 cu. inch engine with a 268 Competition Cam and Rhodes lifters. Sprint car style headers by Speedway Motors. Mallory Uni-Lite ignition and the intake is an Offenhauser 2 x 4 with (2) Carter 450 cfm AFB carburetors. Transmission is a GM 350 turbo with a Dana 44 holding some 4:27:1 gears The chassis and frame is a modified California Custom Roadster with a Speedway Motors dropped tube axle. Lets not forget that this has polished and stainless steel components. Rear suspension is a buggy spring from Speedway Motors. Steering is from California Custom Roadsters with polished reversed Corvair gear box. Wheel Vintages supplies the front and rear with Gennie style 15" x 5" on front and 15" x 8" on the rear with Ford hub caps. Brakes on front and rear are 1940 Ford drums on front and 1952 Ford drums on rear. The body is from Speedway Motors with Custom Mix/Satin black paint. To finish off the car, the interior has a late 50's style bench seat with old style school Mexican blanket covers. Jim states that he cannot give an actual time it has taken him to build because it's still not finished.. I would say it looks pretty good to me. Now that he is retired, he needs to put some miles on it. Actual mileage to date: approx 500 - 600 miles. Good luck Jim with a great looking ride. |
